Williamson County Civil War Veterans
When Rick Warwick was editor of the Williamson County Historical Society’s Journal entitled, Williamson County: Civil War Veterans-Their Reunions and & Photographs in 2007, he began collecting photographs of Civil War veterans of Confederate and Union soldiers, along with a few U.S. Colored Troops and Body Servants. At that time, he presented three hundred and seventy-two veterans. In the following pages, you will find six hundred and seventy-three photographs.
Few counties in Tennessee are fortunate to amass this number of period photographs of individual soldiers, both Confederate and Federal, native or transplant, as are included in this collection. This album identifies many men and boys who were forced to make a difficult choice—bear arms for their state or their country. A larger majority, more than 1,600 native Williamson Countians, chose the Confederate over the Union.
